"Not many people would be interested in gold flatware, but this goes great with our white-with gold trim-China. The flatware comes in a very nice wooden box to hold all the pieces, and has more than enough pieces for parties."

"I was invited to host a table for 10 at a Victorian afternoon tea fundraiser. I used my mother's vintage china with an abundance of 22k gold trim. My silver flatware just didn't compliment the dishes at all, especially since the main colors were claret, pink and gold. I began searching for the gold flatware I remembered from years past on various internet sites. I located a few sets, but the prices were expensive for something I would only use infrequently. When I saw the 65 piece set at J.C. Penney's with the baroque pattern, chest, serving pieces at a very reasonable sale price, I knew I'd found just what I was looking for! My guests commented on how attractive the flatware was and that the color gold was not the garish gold of sets produced years ago. The weight is adequate and I will be anxious to see how the gold finish endures after numerous washings."

Cons Medium weight and hand washing to preserve the goldplating.

"I was hesitant to order flatware without holding them in my hand to feel their weight. I am pleased with the quality because they don't feel light and look cheap. For the price, I feel I received a flatware set that I can serve/display with pride. They are all individually wrapped, shiny, and pristine. The wood storage case is velveteen lined and very nice. I am happy with my purchase."

Cons Are not heavier weighted but not light and cheapo.

"This set was really nice looking. Goes well with the gold trimmed set of dishes I purchased from JCPenny as well. Makes for a very elegant dinner setting. I have been washing them by hand though because of the other reviews and not putting them in the dishwasher."

"I had been wanting a set of gold flatware for holiday celebrations for years. I checked several sites and you beat them all. I never expected to get the additional serving pieces that were included with this set! It is not flimsy by any means. We used it for Thanksgiving, and continued to use it for a few days after because it was so pretty."

"I spent a great deal of time last year searching for a set of gold-plated flatware for the holiday table and was thrilled when I finally discovered the 65-pc Renaissance Gold Flatware/Chest at JC Penney at a great price, and just in time for Christmas!
While the pieces are lovely to look at, holding and using them is another experience altogether. The pieces are very light in the hand; it feels as though a heavy forkful or spoonful of food might just cause them to bend.
I was embarrassed to use this set.
If you are looking for something pretty and inexpensive that will dress up your table, this set fits the bill. If you are looking for something more substantial--keep on looking."

"This is a lovely set of flatware. I love it!! Bought it to match Chris Madden Dishes. I wanted an extra nice set of flatware for special occasions. Can't wait to have my first dinner for friends and family. I definetly would recommend this flatware. The storage chest very well made with cherry finish. Well worth the price. "At first sight this set is beautiful...until you use it. I washed everything by hand before the first use and it held up just fine. However, after the utensils were used for a meal and I washed them again (by hand not in the dishwasher) the gold plating began to come off."

"We use this set every day because the gold leaves no after taste like stainless steel flatware can. We like the pattern and the spoons have a nice ergonomic fit. However, be sure to wash and dry thoroughly by hand! We allowed knives to sit too long in water and now have rust stains in the pattern and on the knife."
