"I've been buying these for about 5 years now. They're the best. They're softer than other brands, fit much better, and are priced really reasonably considering the quality. They aren't super low-rise, either... They fit like classic, comfortable TWs that just hit lower on your waist. They're snug, but not at all constrictive and especially great for the gym or sleeping.
The only downside to these is that they can be hard to find in the store, and JCP's standard shipping times are very slow."
Pros Comfortable, soft, high-quality, stays soft after washing.
Cons Low stock in stores, slow shipping times.

"Very soft and super comfy. And they have a stylish, flattering fit. Nice under jeans, nice under slacks. Good for work, good for sleeping. Not too constrictive, but still snug enough."
Pros good quality material and nice waistband. No scratchy in back label or brand name across the front.
Cons the leg bands took a little while to get used to. better fit after a wash or two

"I have been buying Stafford underwear for years, in fact it's the only thing I wear. I typically buy the boxer briefs but this time I opted for the briefs and I'm extremely pleased. The quality is still the same and the value is definitely there!"

"I've been buying JCPenneys Stafford Briefs since I was a teenager (I'm 58 now). I purchased competing products from name-brands over the years to see how they compared and always came back to Stafford. I'm not so sure I'll keep that going after this most recent purchase.
I've dropped 10 pounds, but after one wash & dry, the briefs shrunk more than they should have. I didn't but them on sale, nor look for a discount. I expected these to be the same as they have been all these years! I'm disappointed. They still fit and feel good, but something is different. Perhaps the manufacturer is playing games with material or using those sub-human-sized male models from Europe or Asia. regardless, something is different and I may be looking for at the competitors lines again. There certainly are plenty of them to try.
p.s No no no - don't think that after 45 years I've forgotten how to wash or dry them and it's ME that made some mistake. Think again!"

"For tighty whiteys, these are great. Very comfortable cotton and nice fit and look. I'm about 6'3" 190 and 33" waist; after washing (and shrinking), the large fit perfectly. Buy on sale and they're even a better bargain."

"I have bought underwear from Penney for over 60 years. As I have gotten older, with a bit of a paunch, it has been harder to get a decent fit. The low rise was just what I needed. Quality is not what it was when the product was manufactured in the USA, but still satisfactory."

"I've worn the Stafford brand for YEARS .. they always came in sizes like 36-38. Now only small, medium, etc. They're not the same cut, they're too low. I guess I'll have to go somewhere else. The store doesn't carry them anymore either. Very disappointed."

"Comfortable to wear, well made product that lasts. I was alarmed when I visited the store (middletown mall, New York) and found the shelves empty of these shorts. I used the catalog and obtained what I needed except the wrong size. I returned to the store and by that time the shelves were replenished and I was able to exchange my purchase and get what I needed. Thank you JCP for prompt and courteous service. Stay healthy in these economic turbulent times."

"These are not the mid-rise, as advertised. They are the full sized, Grandpa pair that I didn't want. I'm pretty sure JCP doesn't carry the mid rise anymore, but nobody has updated the description."
